My cat has long hair, and was having an issue where a patch of fur kept matting. Even with a grooming brush it wouldn't come out and he would scratch and fight me. I sprayed a generous amount of spray on the area and let it sit, and after 10 minutes i went to brush it and all of the mats instantly came out! No scratches and no struggling.
